Our favoutire toys

Last week we brought our favourite toys into school. As well as giving oral presentations to the class about our toy, we painted pictures using watercolours and made printing blocks. We'll be doing the printing this week!
Here are some pictures of us painting and sketching in our sketch books.

Friendship Week - activity afternoon

Yesterday in Y2 we spent the afternoon working on fun friendship activities. First, with our friends from both classes, we made a friendship book. In our books we wrote about how to make a friend, how things with friends can sometimes go wrong and about some of the games we play with friends. Also, we started to make a crown of friends. We had to concentrate to cut out carefully and decorate neatly. We’ll put up some pictures of our finished crowns later in the week.
Here is a picture of Beatriz cutting out her crown of friends.
Here is Helen colouring her crown.

Gingerbread Bob Biscuits

Before the holidays we finished our work on the book, Bob, The Man on the Moon with some baking. We made gingerbread Bob biscuits with Mrs Graham. We worked in a team to make the dough and then we each decorated our own.

Bike Day

Year 2 had a great day riding on their bikes and scooters. They had a chance to ride around a pretend road that was set up on the play ground. There they practiced using a roundabout, giving way at a junction and remembering how to travel safely.

Transport Assembly

Today we performed our assembly for our parents and the other children in Primary. We had a great time saying the poem that we had written about our train journey to Toulouse. We were all excited to perform the actions we’d made up to go with the words. The actions help us to remember the words and stay in time. All the parents seemed to like our song and story.  Mrs Graham took some photos. We decorated the hall with our transport paintings. You can hear our poem again on this video.

Our Fire Engines

Working from photos we painted our own red and black fire engines.

Transport Art in Primary colours

We have been doing lots of art, based on the theme of transport. You can see our big vehicles in Primary colours. We worked really well in pairs to make these.

Alien Art

We have been reading 'Bob - a day in the life of the man on the moon'. The pictures in the book show aliens everywhere. Not just on the Moon but on the Planet Earth too! Bob, however, does not believe that aliens exist. So we drew lots of our own aliens in oil pastel to encourage Bob to open his eyes and notice the aliens that are all around him!

Place Value in maths

In maths we used rods and cubes to show the tens and units in 2-digit numbers.
